Schwerelos

Realized at the Köln International School of Design (KISD) in partnership with the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS), this project mobilized students to redesign privacy and comfort inside the economy class of airplanes.

The Schwerelos (Weightless) project demanded a vast research in every field related to airports and airplanes, including a visit to the factory of Airbus in Hamburg. The students, divided by groups of tasks, came up with different solutions for the concept of travelling since the check-in until the last row of seats inside the cabin. Topics related to lights, fitness, beauty, services and entertainment during the flight were also aborded.

Finally all the documentation of the research, sketches and ideas for the improvement of airplanes were put together into a book, which represented the results achieved by KISD.
